The Alter Ego colours, as intense and luminous as the Classics, are for vegetal fibers such as cotton, linen, viscose, etc.
Just as bright and intense as Classic colours, they can be used in painting, simple dyeing or double dyeing (mid-vegetal, mid-animal fibres) in combination with Classic colours.
To paint with Alter Ego, prepare a mixture of: 5 doses of colour for a dose of steaming medium.
Apply your mixture with a brush or spray it. Use this technique to make stencils for example.
Pre-test the application and fix on a tissue sample. Alter Ego paint fuse a little less than the classic H Dupont.
Then fix with the steamer.
Mix: For 1 L of water (10-20 g of tissue), allow 15 ml of Alter Ego colour and 10 ml of coarse salt.
In a pot of warm water, add the colours and coarse salt. Mix well.
Rinse the fabric, wring out and immerse it still wet in the mixture. On a low heat, stir for 5 minutes then increase to boil. Continue stirring throughout the dyeing. Keep the bath boiling for 5 minutes. Then let stand out of the fire for 10 minutes. Rinse and wash with soap and water.
Let dry before fixing.
Mix: For 1L of water (25-35g of tissue), allow 10ml of Alter Ego, 5ml of Classic, 6 drops of fixative, 3 of vinegar and 5ml of coarse salt.
Pour warm water into a saucepan.
Add the right blend of Alter Ego Classic for Animal Fiber and Colour for Vegetal Fiber, Fixer, Vinegar and Coarse Salt. Mix.
Rinse the fabric, wring out and immerse it still wet in the mixture.
Stir all over the heat for 5 minutes. Heat to boiling. Let it boil for 5 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for 10 minutes.
Rinse the fabric with water and then wash with warm water and soap. It is possible that one of the darker colours takes over and influences, even very slightly the lighter colour.
Let it dry before setting in the microwave (2x2 minutes) or in the steamer.
Clean your tools with water.
Nothing better to dye cotton, linen, viscose than these bright colours!
Combine with Classic dye to achieve a double dye

The double-bath dyeing technique is based on the affinity of the dyes to the associated fibers: Steam-drying silk dyes on silk and Alter-Ego dyes on viscose (velvet and satin)
